First of all, Akitann is a Creole-inspired word that means “when,” a form of motivation to achieve one’s ambitions. The logo features a braided clover, with the top representing luck, prosperity, and success. The stem represents the strength of Afro hair. Akitann’s beginnings will be through the sale of artwork by Black personalities who have highlighted the creativity and intelligence of our community. We will also offer portraits of Afro women to showcase their beauty and mythology. This project will be the beginning of a great adventure that highlight the creativity and intelligence of our community, especially my Archipelago.
Each print is originally a handmade pencil drawing by the artist El. El draws his inspiration from black culture, more specifically from Guadeloupe. When the drawing is finished, the artist vectorizes it and creates different designs with the help of software. Then the drawings are sent to a professional printer for production to make quality canvases.
